Literacy Parent Guide

Traditionally, in the first half term of the new school year, we host the Year 7 Freshers’ Evening. During this evening parents and carers are given the opportunity to meet with the Head of Year and their daughter's form tutor. We also present a series of talks relating to our school focus on literacy and numeracy and how you can support your daughter at home. At Northampton School for Girls, we firmly believe literacy and numeracy are fundamental building blocks to future academic success.

Even though we are unable to invite you into school this year, we still want this important event to take place. As such we have created a few short videos. The first is from Geroge Simmons, the Raising Standards Leader for Year 7. He will offer a warm welcome to you all and pass on some key messages about the brilliant start Year 7 have made so far. This is followed by some of our curriculum leaders who will give you a flavour of the content, delivery and support we give our Year 7 students in numeracy and literacy.
