Sixth Form Dress Code Year 12 2024

As role models to their younger peers, we expect our sixth form students to dress appropriately for the school working environment. This dress code indicates the standard of dress expected of sixth form students and is intended to create a balance between a professional and comfortable learning environment.

Dress, skirt or full length trousers

  • All clothing must be clean and in good repair (not ripped)
  • Skirts and dresses must be of a modest length
  • Smart jeans may be worn (not ripped)
  • Leggings, unless worn under a mid-length dress/tunic
  • Bodycon/tube dresses or skirts
  • Shorts
  • Joggers
  • Cargo trousers

 

Top with sleeves

  • Sleeves may be short or long
  • Cropped tops
  • Strappy tops
  • Hooded tops
  • Large slogans

Smart shoes, sandals or boots

  • All-black or all-white trainers are acceptable
  • Backless footwear
  • Sliders/flip flops
  • Crocs
  • Ugg boots

Tailored jacket

  • Optional

 

Outdoor jacket/coat

 

  • Removed when in class

 

Formal occasions (when Post-16 students represent the school)

Expectations

 1. BLACK skirt of reasonable length or BLACK full length smart trousers

 2. BLACK or WHITE top with sleeves

 3. BLACK shoes, sandals or boots

 4. BLACK tailored jacket (optional)

 

Other important notes

• Hats and outdoor clothing must not be worn in school

 • Students who attend school or school functions wearing inappropriate clothing may be sent home to change

• Small earrings and a single discreet nose stud may be worn. Other facial jewellery and visible tattoos are not acceptable.

• For PE/Dance activities, students must bring sports clothing which is not worn in school during the day

• Phones must not be seen or used outside of the sixth form centre. Please also note that we are in the process of reviewing our whole school mobile policy and this may be subject to change.

 

This list is not exhaustive and we reserve the right to point out other issues as they arise. The overriding principle is that it is the judgement of the staff that determines what is suitable or not.
It is possible that, at times, you may not meet our expectations and then we will intervene to let you know and we will expect you to respond by adapting your dress.
