Parent Trustee Elections
Our school has provision for Parent Trustees, and there are currently vacancies on the Board.
The Board of Trustees, with the Headteacher, has overall responsibility for the running of the school. They have three core strategic functions:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
No special qualifications are needed, and the most important thing is to have a keen interest in the school and be prepared to play an active part in the Board of Trustees’ work. Training is available for all trustees, with a trustee strategy day taking place once a year. There is an expectation that those new to being a trustee attend free induction training.
Nominations must be from parents, or individuals exercising parental responsibility, of a child at the school.
Below are two documents which outline our procedures and criterion for election of parent trustees:
- Procedures for election of parent trustees at NSG.
- Qualifications/disqualifications under which someone can/cannot serve as a trustee at NSG.
If you would like to stand for election, please complete the below form by no later than 4pm on Tuesday 4 November 2025.
You may also include a short personal statement to support your nomination, which should be no longer than 250 words. This statement will be shared with all parent stakeholders and may be published on the school website in the event of an election.
Self-nominations will be accepted but if you are nominating another parent, please seek their prior consent.
If the number of nominations exceeds the number of available vacancies, an election will be held by secret ballot. Should this be required, all parents/carers will receive voting papers along with full details of the ballot process.
