Congratulations to GOLD DofE award student Eliza Humphrey

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a nationally recognised award, open to any young person aged 14-24, regardless of ability, gender, background or location. The DofE programme consists of three progressive levels which, when successfully completed, leads to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. There are four sections to complete at Bronze and Silver level and five at Gold. They involve helping the community/environment, becoming fitter, developing new skills, planning, training for and completing an expedition and, for Gold only, working with a team on a residential activity. Achieving an Award isn’t a competition or about being first. It’s all about setting personal challenges and pushing personal boundaries. Through a DofE programme young people have fun, make friends, improve their self-esteem and build confidence. They gain essential skills and attributes for work and life such as resilience, problem-solving, team-working, communication and drive, enhancing CVs and university and job applications.

 

 

 

DofE at Northampton School for Girls

Northampton School for Girls has been running the DofE programme for many years and is a Directly Licensed Centre (DLC).  This means we are licensed to deliver DofE programmes to our students under our own licence and have the experience and systems in place to support students throughout their award.

We are delighted to offer students the opportunity to enrol onto:
  • Bronze – Year 9
  • Silver – Year 10
  • Gold – Year 12

With well over 200 students across Years 9-13 currently working towards their awards, DofE is a well established and popular part of life at NSG.

DofE Expeditions

For our expeditions, we work with Limitless Outdoors, an experienced outdoor education provider that operates under our Licensed Organisation. Their experienced instructors, who are qualified Mountain Leaders, support our students in developing their expedition skills and completing safe, challenging and rewarding expeditions at Bronze, Silver and Gold level.

Taking part in DofE expeditions are a chance to step outside your comfort zone, discover what you are capable of and create experiences and memories that will stay with you long after you have completed your Award.
