MISSION STATEMENT FOR FINANCIAL EDUCATION

Northampton School for Girls is a Centre of Excellence for delivering financial education.  Since being awarded this status, we are continuing to work in partnership with Young Enterprise to maintain and share our good practice.

We believe that in order to participate fully in life, everyone needs a clear understanding of how to manage their money.  We therefore intend to provide our students with a programme of financial education to equip them with the confidence and competence to manage their money well.  This supports our school ethos – to have respect for self, others and learning.

Financial education means that in addition to learning how to manage their money, students will also learn how to become critical consumers.  They will consider the risks, rewards and emotions associated with money, differentiate between good debt and bad debt and understand the role that money plays in all our lives.
