Catch Up Premium

Catch-up Funding

This year the government has made funding available to support children and young people to catch up lost time after school closure. This is especially important for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds. Catch up premium - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).

Our core aim of this funding is to raise the attainment of all students whilst closing the gaps created by COVID-19 school closures. In particular we would like to raise aspirations, attainment, improve progress and the life outcomes of those students affected by the school closures in 2020/21. Along with this we need to ensure that students sitting examinations in summer 2021 are not negatively impacted by COVID-19.

More detail on this and our catch-up funding can be found below.

Literacy and Numeracy Catch-up Premium

The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives state-funded schools, including special schools and alternative provision settings, additional funding to support year 7 pupils who did not achieve the expected standard in reading or maths at the end of key stage 2 (KS2).

At Northampton School for girls, we believe that the progress of every learner is equally important. The progress and attainment of all students is assessed and reported on regularly throughout the year with interventions introduced post assessment to ensure progress is increased by the next assessment. At Northampton School for Girls, students such as Pupil Premium and Year 7 Catch up are supported through Quality First Teaching and carefully focused intervention strategies. Effective tracking systems enable teachers and leaders to gain an accurate picture of how students are progressing and ensure support from teachers and leaders is effectively targeted. To support our most disadvantaged and vulnerable learners, there is a rolling program of intervention to support students with a range of differing needs.
