16-19 Tuition Fund

Northampton School for Girls is in receipt of 16-19 Tuition Funding, and issues the following statement as required under the conditions of this funding.

The 16 to 19 Tuition Fund

STATEMENT ON HOW WE INTEND TO USE THE FUND TO SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS

The 16 to 19 Tuition Fund was first provided for the 2020 to 2021 academic year and was extended for a further two years into the 2023 to 2024 academic year. Although the actual tuition does not need to be for GCSE English or maths, it’s only for:

  • students who have not achieved a grade 6 in GCSE English and/or GCSE maths at age 16 and would need catch-up support
  • students from the 27% most economically deprived areas of the country (based on the index of multiple deprivation) and would need catch-up support
  • students who are economically disadvantaged who meet the 16 to 19 Bursary Fund eligibility criteria and would need catch-up support to reach their full potential will be eligible, even where their prior attainment is high

All supported students must be on a 16 to 19 study programme and have had their learning disrupted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We will consider the needs of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly where students experienced additional disruption.

Small group (maximum 5 students) and/or individual tuition, will be provided for eligible students to give additional support following disruption in their learning caused by the coronavirus pandemic.  The tuition may cover a range of subjects depending on the needs identified of the individual students, with English and Maths prioritised.  Tuition will take place in small groups or 1:1 sessions and will be scheduled in addition to the planned programme of study hours already timetabled for the academic year. Tuition and additional support may be delivered using a blend of online tuition from a third party provider and on-site delivery.
